# Send messages with OneSignal

> Send your first push notification and create in-app messages from OneSignal.

Once OneSignal is connected and a device has subscribed, create messages from the OneSignal dashboard.

## Send your first push notification

    In OneSignal, go to **Messages → New Push**.

    Add a title and message body.

    Select **Test Users** and choose your test device.

    Review the message and send it. The notification should arrive on the device within seconds.

## Send in-app messages

Use in-app messages for announcements, onboarding tips, and promotions while someone is already using your app.

1. In OneSignal, go to **Messages → In-App → New In-App**.
2. Design the message with OneSignal's editor.
3. Choose an audience and configure its delivery schedule.
4. Make the message active.

## Segment your audience

Use OneSignal segments to target groups of users based on the attributes and behavior available in your OneSignal project. You can also create message variants in OneSignal to test content with different audiences.

  Begin with a test audience before sending to every subscriber. Confirm the title, body, links, and delivery timing on both iOS and Android devices.
